Armed Forces-SAF - As a volunteer nurse on the battlefields of the American Civil War, Clara Barton saw the poor condition of the military troops firsthand. She became known as the “Angel of the Battlefield” for the care and assistance she provided to wounded soldiers. Locally, the chapter helps service members return home to see their families in a time of emergency. Nearly 1,200 messages get sent every year. A |

Disaster Services - Each year, the national American Red Cross responds to more than 70,000 disasters, including house or apartment fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents, explosions, and other natural and man-made disasters. The local chapter responds to both national and local disaster. Locally the chapter responds to a home fire every 72 hours, with the help of our Disaster Action Team (DAT) Red Cross volunteers. A A |

Health and Safety Services - The Coastal Bend-Texas Chapter of the American Red Cross provides health and safety training that equips people of all ages to prevent, prepare for and respond to life threatening emergencies. Our health and safety courses cover more than 50 topics such as first aid and CPR, use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), babysitter's training, swimming and aquatic safety, instructor training and much more.A A A |
