Single Family Disaster Workshop

Purpose - The purpose course is to provide fundamental information about single family disasters, the chapter's response, and the how we provide those services.

Disaster Assessment
Purpose - The purpose of this course is to train disaster workers to assess the damage done during a disaster. You will learn to do a house by house assessment as well as an overall assessment of the damage to the community.

Disaster Services: An Overview

Purpose - To introduce potential disaster volunteers and members of other local agencies to the role of the Red Cross in the community's actions in preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies and disasters. The course will enable individual volunteers to translate their care and compassion for their community into action and provide information to other community agencies on Red Cross work and possible partnership in preparation for and response to a disaster. They will understand the mission of the Red Cross, the principles and values that support the mission and the expected behaviors of Red Cross volunteers and employees in the conduct of that mission and then will be given the next steps in their training.

Frontline Supervision and Simulation
This new course provides training and exercising skills to be a supervisor on a disaster operation.

Foundations of Disaster Mental Health
Purpose - The purpose of this course is to provide disaster mental health workers with the knowledge and skills needed to assist clients following a disaster.
Prerequisites: Must be a licensed mental health professional

Logistics: An Overview and Logistics Simulation
Purpose - To provide basic information about the processes of Material Support Services (MSS) activities in support of an American Red Cross disaster relief operation. Participants will learn about the skills, abilities and knowledge needed by MSS workers and then practice those skills in a simulation.

Financial and Statistical Information Systems (FSI)
Purpose - To prepare Red Cross volunteers and employees to perform the tasks of an FSI Service Associate. Those who may benefit from taking this course include those in Operations Management and those who may require an understanding of the operational procedures and tasks associated with Financial and Statistical Information Management.

Collaborating to Ensure Effective Service Delivery
Purpose - To prepare Red Cross employees and volunteers to establish collaborative relationships that contribute to coordinated disaster response and help to ensure effective service delivery. This course will also prepare participants to begin conducting liaison activities in a chapter and establish a foundation upon which they can build toward a career as a liaison in the Disaster Services Human Resources (DSHR) System.

Emergency Operations Center/Incident Command Liaison
Purpose - To prepare Red Cross volunteers and employees who will be assigned to government and emergency settings to work collaboratively with Red Cross partners, helping to ensure a coordinated response that results in effective service delivery.

ERV: Ready, Set, Roll & Defensive Driving
Purpose - To prepare volunteers and employees of the Red Cross to operate an Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) and its equipment safely and effectively to meet feeding and other service needs of people affected by disaster.
Prerequisite: Must have recent Defensive Driving Certificate. Online fee is $15.95

Shelter Operations and Simulation

Purpose: To introduce and prepare volunteers to work in a shelter setting during a disaster, whether small or catastrophic.
Prerequisite: Must have Disaster Services: An Overview or Fulfilling Our Mission
